Q3 2020 at RCC Nova company

For our employees this period is the work related to the development and implementation of the universal aircraft engine lifting system. The contractor for which the project is carried out is a French company providing innovative solutions to airport ground support and maintenance equipment. Focusing on continuous growth, the company is looking for solutions to speed up and facilitate manual work, hence the decision to optimize the next range in the above industry.

The device, which will expand the offer of the French company is electrically driven, remote-controlled, 6-axis manipulator to facilitate work during maintenance operations related to the installation and removal of engines in aircraft.

Our company is responsible for all works related to the development and implementation of the manipulator control system including:

  • selection of controllers, servomotors and servo-controllers,
  • control algorithm development and implementation,
  • development of a universal software architecture that allows user to freely add new modules/engines,
  • preparation of a training module for machine operators,
  • selection of the wireless HMI operator panel,
  • development of a user interface working on the HMI touch panel.

Safety opening and closing of passenger carriages doors

In July 2020, we finished working on an innovative railroad door control system – innovative because it uses machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Our controller is specially designed to withstand voltage surges and bursts that often occur at the place of its application – railroad carriages.

Additionally implemented machine learning software “learns” the power needed to open and close the door at every point of movement, remembering these values.
When at a given point the force requirement exceeds the standard value, for AI algorithms, this means encountering an obstacle and the software immediately stops closing the door. Continuous analysis of the use of force by the algorithms allows to detect obstacles with high precision. This results in a much lower force requirement for the controller to identify the obstacle, which directly affects the safety of the traveler, e.g. by eliminating the risk of being trapped in the door.

Thanks to the use of innovative methods we design and manufacture safe, stable and fault-tolerant control systems, which are successfully used in several hundred railroad carriages in Poland and abroad.

Testing Simcenter Testlab 2019 software

Over the past few months, RCC Nova, in cooperation with Siemens Industry Software NV, has participated in a project consisting in testing the functionality of the pre-release version of Simcenter Testlab 2019. The duties of a qualified team of engineers were to check the correct operation of individual application modules, apply the application in practice and maintain documentation on the bugs needed to eliminate the new version before the official launch.

The work was carried out both at the RCC Nova office in Krakow and at the client’s headquarters in Leuven (Belgium).

The design of the station for conducting transient heat and strength phenomena commissioned by the Cracow University of Technology

RCC Nova implemented the project in cooperation with the Institute of Heat and Process Engineering of the Krakow University of Technology. The scope of work included the design, prefabrication and commissioning of the position control system together with PLC software and integration of the SCADA class system, visualization and process control, as well as preparation of measurements, acquisition and initial data analysis. The test stand is located in the PK laboratory at Al. John Paul II in Krakow.

Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart

Automotive Testing Expo is the annual exhibition, which gather the main suppliers from automotive sector. From the initial prototype analysis through to end of line inspection and quality assurance, exhibitors will display their very latest products that are all improving vehicle reliability, durability, safety and quality.
The exhibition will be held on 16th -18th June 2015 at Messe Stuttgart Germany.

Vibration test of battery set performed on electro-dynamic shaker.

Vibration test of battery set has been performed on electro-dynamic shaker. Objective of those tests was to investigate, if the battery set from new supplier meets the operational standards.
At the end of the tests the battery set has been checked. No damages of the battery cell has been observed.

Continuation of the long-term cooperation with LMS International NV (Siemens group).

LMS International has entered the Siemens PLM group. The acquired company was renamed to Siemens Industry Software.
The cooperation between RCC Nova & Siemens Industry Software cover the research and measurement projects, mainly for automotive industry, as well as the software quality testing.

Analysis of dynamic parameters of paper machine in order to increase the production efficiency.

To increase the production efficiency of paper machine we began the firsts step of multi-stage project. Scope of work include investigation of dynamic parameters of machine based on measurement and FEM analysis. The main objective of those tests is to distinguish the critical components of construction to be modified in order to increase the production speed.

RCC Nova with a visit at the Euronoise 2015 conference.

Euronoise 2015, the 10th European Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering, was held at the heart of Europe where the first treaties leading to the creation of the European Union were signed. Acousticians and noise experts from all over the Europe were gather for the event on noise control, and soundscape in Europe, organised by the European Acoustics Association.
Active participation of the RCC Nova employees and exchange of experiences with conference participants, largely contribute to the provision of high quality services in the field of acoustics.

Measurements of a dynamic parameters of military vehicle costruction.

Scope of work include:
• Strain measurements in operational driving conditions and through the shooting.
• Acceleration measurements in operational driving conditions and through the shooting, on the vehicle structure and interior devices.
The measurements took place on the proving ground. In addition, test of the structure dynamics including interior equipment was performed. The experimental modal analysis, which was included into mentioned tests, allows to determine the dynamic parameters, like eigen frequencies and mode shapes of the structure.

Strain gauge instrumentation on energy pipeline at Cracow University of Technology.

Scope of work cover the strain gauge and thermo-couple instrumentation on the pipeline, for the measurement in high temperatures – above 200oC. The instrumentation was done at the laboratory of Cracow University of Technology.
The installation has been adapted to work with data acquisition system located at the laboratory of Cracow University of Technology. High compliance in between measurements and numerical analysis has been achieved.

Fatigue damage expertise of the railway bogie.

RCC Nova has performed a research project providing the output parameters for fatigue analysis of railway bogie components. Work has been done on the city rail line, U-line in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
Sort of dynamic parameters has been measured – in operational conditions and during the experimental tests (Experimental modal analysis). Acquired data will be used for numerical analysis (FEM).
As the result, a solution for construction reinforcement will be proposed. Moreover, establishing of the critical sections of the rail track, significantly affecting the fatigue damages will be discussed.
The measurements are included in a multi-stage project, whose main objective is to modernize the bogie construction.

Optimalization of the bus body construction.

Project of optimization of the bus body construction in order to reduce the interior noise and vibrations tooks over a number of measurements and analysis:
• Determination of operational mode shapes (deformation of the structure due to vibrations), for constant engine speed and for run-up (order tracking).
• Frequency analysis and evaluation of vibration damping level through the different engine mounts.
• Experimental modal analysis for determination of eigen frequencies – evaluation of resonances.
